Giving Tuesday is meant to encourage people to give back to their community, and the Red Cross is asking people to think about helping them help others.
Several major disasters in the the area, including the tornado and mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, have put a strain on Red Cross resources.
Stephanie Byrd, regional CEO for the Red Cross, said the organization needs volunteers and financial support right now to help them continue to provide aid to people in need.
"Financial support for our mission is absolutely critical," Byrd said. "We rely on the generosity of our community here and across the country."
