BOONE COUNTY, Ky. — The truck driver who allegedly hit a Boone County Sheriff's deputy as he walked to his cruiser during a traffic stop has been arrested, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office said 58-year-old John Graue turned himself in at the Boone County Jail on Sunday.
On Friday, Deputy Jacob Southworth was conducting a traffic stop at the 72 mile marker on southbound I-71 around 7:10 p.m., the sheriff's office said. As Southworth returned to his cruiser at around 7:17 p.m., body cam video shows the moment he was hit in the arm by the passenger-side mirror of a truck. That truck continued south on I-71

Southworth was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence for injuries to his arm and was released.
The sheriff's office said a tip and assistance from Kentucky State Police helped deputies identify and locate Graue, as well as the suspected truck, in Sparta, Kentucky.
A search warrant was executed at Graue's residence, and his company-owned utility truck was seized. An arrest warrant was also issued before Graue turned himself in.
Graue has been charged with wanton endangerment of a police officer in the first degree, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to give the right of way to an emergency vehicle.
He is currently being held at the Boone County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
