WCPO reporters, investigators and anchor Tanya O’Rourke worked for months to create a documentary chronicling The Who concert tragedy of Dec. 3, 1979, where the violent, accidental deaths of 11 people permanently changed the landscape of rock.

The countless unshared moments we unearthed in our fact-finding expedition — some heartbreaking, some bittersweet — were too big for one story. So we wrote several.

You can read them all here in our special subsection — The Who: The Night That Changed Rock.

They include interviews with with survivors of the crowd stampede, with family members of the victims and with members of the band, who didn’t learn about the disaster until the show was over.
