South Sudanese model with strikingly dark skin encourages women to embrace their 'beautiful melanin'

A South Sudanese model blessed with strikingly dark skin is embracing her pigmentation and hoping others will do the same.

Nyakin Gatwech, 24, who now lives in Minneapolis, was once asked by an Uber driver if she would consider bleaching her skin.

“Why on earth would I ever bleach this beautiful melanin God [blessed] me with?" she responded, according to Huffington Post.

Gatwech has embraced the title “Queen of Dark,” and advocates for black rights around the world through her social media accounts, which routinely earn thousands of likes.
