CINCINNATI — MadTree Brewing will begin selling its first hard cider Friday in the brewery’s Oakley taproom.
The semi-sweet cider is made using locally grown apple cider from Beiersdorfer Orchard in southeast Indiana, according to a news release. The name of the cider, 42 Mile, refers to the number of miles between MadTree Brewing in Oakley and Beiersdorfer Orchard in Dearborn County.
“When we set out to make a hard cider, it was really important for us to know where the fruit came from and who the farmer was that grew it,” said MadTree head brewer Ryan Blevins.
The cider offers MadTree customers an alternative to beer. The cider meets FDA guidelines for people who follow a gluten-free diet as well.

The new cider goes on tap Friday in the MadTree taproom at 3301 Madison Road. It will not be distributed outside the taproom, according to a brewery spokesperson.
