GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A longtime West Side staple is closed, at least for the foreseeable future.

The owners of Zip Dip announced on Tuesday they are shuttering their seasonal ice cream stand at 4050 Drew Ave. in Green Township. Their reason - the threat of coronavirus.

"We are honored to have customers that not only visit us - but make us a part of their lives and traditions," the owners wrote on Facebook. "And of course, we are grateful for our employees (both past and present) that are the heart and soul of our business. It is BECAUSE of our amazing community, customers and staff that we have decided to close, starting tomorrow, for the foreseeable future in order protect the things and people we love."

Zip Dip began its 70th season offering up soft-serve ice cream on March 6.
