CINCINNATI – Local bar owner Jacob Trevino is getting into the restaurant business.
On Friday, Trevino announced he will open The Lonely Pine Steakhouse this spring at 6085 Montgomery Road in Pleasant Ridge.
The steakhouse will be Trevino's first restaurant. It will open next to Overlook Lodge, which Trevino opened in 2015 under his Gorilla Cinema Presents umbrella of businesses. In 2016, Trevino then opened "Video Archive," a Quentin Tarantino-inspired bar in Walnut Hills, followed by the Downtown Japanese karaoke bar Tokyo Kitty in early 2018.
In a press release, Trevino described The Lonely Pine Steakhouse as a fusion of "counter-casual service with a space inspired by mid-century modern styling and the spirit of America’s great landscapes."
“Growing up in Texas, we would always visit counter service steakhouses," he said. "They were a place that the whole family could enjoy without much fuss, or breaking the bank. The older I get, the more I long to go back there. I can’t build a time machine so I’m building a restaurant."
Trevino is opening Lonely Pine with co-owner Otto Baum. The pair teamed up with Chef Dana Adkins of Carriage House Farms and Butcher Allison Hines from Butcher Betties for Gorilla Cinema Present’s first brick and mortar food concept.
Steakhouse guests will be greeted by the restaurant's in-house butcher, who will be standing behind a meat counter ready to describe the day's featured cuts and help them place their order. Those cuts will include filets, ribeye, strips and rare cuts paired with classic sides, simple cocktails and a bold wine list.
There will be no chicken or fish on the menu, Trevino said.
