CHEVIOT, Ohio — Chris and Stephanie Stone are hanging up their aprons and closing their West Side restaurant for, what some might call, a long overdo retirement.
The couple has served home-cooked meals to the Cheviot and West Side community at Stone's Restaurant for more than 57 years. Stone's will serve its last meal on Jan. 25, according to a message the family posted Sunday on the restaurant's Facebook page.
"Words cannot express how thankful we are for the honor to have served you," reads part of the post signed by Chris and Stephanie Stone. "The lifelong friends we have made over the last 57 years continue to have a lasting impact on our lives and in our hearts. We’ve shared your joys and sorrows, laughter and tears, and made countless memories."
The Stones started serving dishes such as pork chops, stuffed peppers and an array of classic American dishes at 3605 Harrison Ave. in 1962.
They also thanked a long list of current and former employees, family and loyal customers in the post announcing their retirement.
"These walls have seen generations come and go," the Stones wrote. "They’ve seen couples marry, have children, and seen those children grow up and marry. Our humble little restaurant has never been just a business to us; it’s been our home and we loved sharing it with you. Thank you for coming into our home and into our lives."
