CINCINNATI — The first full-length trailer for the Miles Davis biopic “Miles Ahead,” which Don Cheadle filmed in Cincinnati in 2014, was released online Tuesday. (Click here to watch.)
Cheadle starred in and directed the movie, which tells the story of the jazz musician’s return to the recording studio in the 1970s after a six-year hiatus. Ewan McGregor plays a reporter for Rolling Stone covering Davis at the time.
The trailer mostly shows interior scenes, with a few glimpses of exteriors likely shot in Over-the-Rhine and Downtown. The trailer's most easily identifiable interior is of the former Oakley Presbyterian Church.
“Miles Ahead” received top billing at the Sundance Film Festival, which ended in Park City, Utah, on Sunday. The film is scheduled for release April 1. Cheadle also promised to attend a special screening of his movie at the Esquire Theatre in Clifton with people who helped fund the film through an Indiegogo campaign.
Cheadle discussed the plot of the film in an Entertainment Weekly article that accompanied the trailer’s release.
