CINCINNATI — Out with the old and in with the new.
After ending its franchise relationship with the craft beer chain Brass Tap, the 5F Group opened Hop Scotch Craft Beer & Whiskey Bar in its place at 251 Calhoun St. in CUF-Heights at 3 p.m. Monday.
The group had operated its Brass Tap franchise location at U Square near the University of Cincinnati since late 2013. The Brass Tap's last day of business was on New Year's Eve. The location was then closed from New Year's Day through Sunday for renovations and rebranding, according to a post on Hop Scotch's website.
"We have enjoyed our partnership with The Brass Tap, and are now ready to do something unique and new," the 5F Group wrote in the note to Brass Tap customers.
Hop Scotch opens with more than 100 whiskeys, 60 beers on draft and more than 200 beers in bottles. The new bar's signature cocktail is the boilermaker, which is a shot of whiskey served with a beer chaser. The location also offers gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches on its menu.
Hop Scotch is open 3-2 a.m. Monday-Friday; and 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
