Myrtle's Punch House closes unexpectedly

CINCINNATI — Popular East Walnut Hills bar Myrtle's Punch House has suddenly closed, according to its Facebook page.

The property's landlord has refused to renew the bar's lease despite the rent always being paid in full every month and the bar complying with all the terms of the lease, according to the post.

WCPO hasn't been able to reach a representative of the property's listed owner, Woodburn Apartments LLC.

The landlord taped a three-day eviction noticed on the bar's door Wednesday, according to the Facebook post.

Bar owner Molly Wellmann, who purchased Myrtle's from her former partners last summer, declined to elaborate on the post but confirmed its accuracy.

Wellmann was recently named "bartender-owner of the year" by Nightclub & Bar Media Group. She indicated she still hopes to have a presence in the neighborhood.

"Most importantly though, I love the East Walnut Hills / Woodburn Entertainment District, excited for its future, appreciate the work being done by many there and am seriously considering another concept," Wellmann wrote.
