CINCINNATI — You can't keep a good dog down.
Chef and owner Mary Swortwood announced plans to reopen The Green Dog Cafe at a new location by the end of February.
The new Green Dog will be located at 3009 O'Bryon St. next to the BonBonerie in O'Bryonville.
Swortwood closed the original Green Dog Cafe in Columbia Tusculum in 2018 to focus on another venture, Black Bird. That eatery, located in O'Bryonville, closed last year.
The original Green Dog, which first opened in 2008, had gained a reputation for organic, locally sourced eclectic fare and family-friendly atmosphere.
In announcing Green Dog's resurrection on Facebook, Swortwood stated "Cincinnati still has room for fresh, innovative recipes to provide quality food for those who believe in plant-based, vegan and gluten-free menu options. While this is a targeted market, this is not our only identity. There is something for everyone."
The new Green Dog will bring back favorite features of the old cafe such as “Green Dog Stamps," kids eat free on Saturday and Sunday, the Chihuahua Bowl, Green Dog Fries, salmon wraps and pesto quesadilla.
Green Dog will be open all day Wednesday through Saturday and offer Sunday brunch. Liquor, wine and beer also will be served and carry-out wine and beer will be available.
