CINCINNATI — Prepare to be moved when Meshell Ndegeocello performs her soulful songs at Memorial Hall.

The ten-time Grammy Award nominee announced she will perform with her long-time band as part of the Longworth-Anderson Series at Memorial Hall on March 20. Ndegeocello’s visit will include a pre-show reception featuring light bites and beverage tastings from 6:30-8 p.m., followed by the concert at 8 p.m. that evening.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale at noon Friday at memorialhallotr.com, the Memorial Hall box office and by phone at 513-977-8838. Memorial Hall is located at 1225 Elm St. in Over-the-Rhine.

During the show, Ndegeocello will perform songs from her 12th studio album, “Ventriloquism,” which received a Grammy nomination for “Best Urban Contemporary Album” in 2018.

“The year around the recording of this album was so disorienting and dispiriting for me personally and for so many people I know and spoke to all the time,” Ndegeocello said of the album in a press release. “I looked for a way to make something that was light while things around me were so dark, a musical place to go that reminded me of another, brighter time.”

Ndegeocello is the latest in a series of Grammy Award-winning and nominated performers featured in the Longworth-Anderson Series, which the Cincinnati Memorial Society launched in 2017. The series was designed to showcase artists from a variety of contemporary music genres.
