COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Fifty West Brewing Company will stay true to its name with the addition of a new brewpub set to open in Chillicothe, Ohio by year's end.
On Friday, Fifty West announced in a press release a plan to expand its footprint with the addition of its first location outside of Greater Cincinnati. The new Fifty West brewpub will open on U.S. Route 50 at 1 N. Paint St. in downtown Chillicothe. The city is located about 50-miles south of Columbus.
“Route 50 spans across the heart of the country from Ocean City, MD to Sacramento, CA," said Fifty West managing partner Bobby Slattery. "We had a dream that one day we could expand the Fifty West experience. This brewpub is the next step in bringing that vision to life.”
Fifty West is investing approximately $2 million to renovate the property where the new brewpub will be located. Slattery said he hoped to host a grand opening there by late 2019 or no later than early 2020. The brewpub should employ about 30 people, according to Fifty West.
“The city of Chillicothe is delighted to welcome Fifty West Brewing Company to our wonderful community,” said Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney. “We look forward to the brewpub on North Paint Street creating jobs, spurring continued economic development and revitalization downtown, and serving as a wonderful business for our residents to enjoy for years to come.”
Fifty West opened its original microbrewery and gastropub along U.S. 50 West at 7668 Wooster Pike in Columbia Township in November 2012. The brewery added the Fifty West Production Works across the street at 7605 Wooster Pike in May 2016.
The Brewers Association recently ranked Fifty West as one of the fastest growing small and independent craft breweries in the country for 2018.
