CINCINNATI — With the Tri-State trapped in a cold front, Coney Island reminds residents that summer isn’t so far away with the announcement of the park’s newest attraction Tuesday.

The family fun park announced Cannonball Cove is coming to Sunlite Water Adventure this year. The new dive pool area includes two 1-meter diving boards and one 3-meter diving board with a 12-feet-9-inch dive depth, allowing kids and parents to jump, dive and cannonball all summer long.

Diving boards were removed from the Sunlite Pool due to state law last year, said Coney Island’s president, Rob Schutter.

“Cannonball Cove is a result of our extensive review of the options available to us to continue the unparalleled experiences of diving that delighted our guests for many years making Coney Island a unique and nostalgic destination,” Schutter said in a written statement.

Cannonball Cove will be located by the west entrance of Sunlite Water Adventure, according to Coney Island officials. Construction will begin in early spring and is expected to be completed for the summer season. The Pipeline Plunge will be removed to make room for the dive pool.

Coney Island opens for the 2019 season May 25.
