COVINGTON, Ky. — The tacos and tequila served at Agave & Ryehave gained quite a foodie fan following since the restaurant opened last year.
Agave's owners hope to create the same wow with visitors when their newest venture Sugar Whiskey Sis opens at 5 p.m. Friday.
Located next to Agave & Rye at 633 Madison Ave. in Covington, Sugar Whiskey Sis focus is on moonshines and Southern food favorites.
The drink menu features more than 50 moonshines, craft cocktails and local beers for a little variety.
“We’re thrilled to be able to open Sugar Whiskey Sis and share our love of moonshine with Covington,” stated founder Yavonne Sarber in a press release. “From the menu to the bar, everything was designed with the intent of bringing moonshine into 2019. Guests can experience the moonshine room with knowledge that they’re getting the very best this nostalgic drink has to offer.”
Dishes include "drunkin'" chicken wings, a "Hell Ya" chicken sandwich, moonpyes (think a flaky biscuit pocket stuffed with a variety of meats, cheeses and other fillings), pimento cheese sandwiches and more.
Friday's opening will include complimentary moonshine samples from Ole Smoky, RNDC, Heidelberg, Stillhouse, Villa Hillbillies and Jeptha Creed. There will also be live music, giveaways and games throughout the evening.
After the grand opening, the restaurant's regular hours will be noon-10 p.m. Sunday; 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday; 11 a.m.-midnight Tuesday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Friday; and noon-1 a.m. Saturday. Sugar Whiskey Sis will hold happy hours with regular drink specials from 3-7 p.m. Monday-Friday.
