CINCINNATI -- The Wednesday evening happy hours held along the Serpentine Wall each summer are over.
The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber announced on Thursday it will not bring back 5:13, the free event series that began in 1976 as Party in the Park.
“The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber will focus its 2017 efforts on adding new region-changing events like BLINK and partnering to grow successful, inclusive events like Asian Food Fest. Due to these exciting new opportunities, the summertime 5:13 events will not occur,” said Rich Walburg, communications director for the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.
“A new Cincinnati Chamber summer event series is in the planning stages for 2018,” Walburg said.
The chamber renamed Party in the Park as 5:13 last year in an attempt to bring new life to the event, which launched in 1976. With the rebranding, the chamber added food trucks, rotating guest bartenders and games to the annual happy hour series, which kicked off in May and continued into August.
BLINK Cincinnati, a 20-block-long outdoor light and art show, was announced in October. The chamber is working with Agar, ArtWorks, Brave Berlin and the Carol Ann and Ralph V Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation to produce BLINK.
