MASON, Ohio – Kings Island is opening a new water slide complex Saturday when Soak City Waterpark opens for the summer.
The new “Tropical Plunge” will include six different water slide experiences, according to a news release. Three of the slides will involve guests climbing inside an “Aqua-Launch chamber” where the floor will drop from under them, sending them into a nearly vertical free fall through loops and S-curves in a translucent flume.
Another slide will send guests down an enclosed chute with four 360-degree loops, ending in a pool after 449 feet. A pair of dueling 337-foot-long tube slides will also take riders through “an enchanting series of drops and turns.”

The waterpark was last updated in 2012 with the addition of Tidal Wave Bay. Park officials previously said it will feature 36 slides, two wave pools and more this year.
The amusement park replaced the two parking plazas out front with one large new toll plaza. Season pass holders have dedicated lanes to get in and out of the parking lot.
