COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A local dog that no one seemed to want was just adopted by some famous Tri-Staters.

Nate the dog was rescued from his former owner, described as a hoarder who kept more than 20 dogs — all bigger and stronger than Nate, who was born with a birth defect in his leg.

“He was comatose,” said Carol Roberts’, who took Nate into her rescue operation, Luvfurmutts. “He was nothing but bones, not being strong enough to fight for his own food.”

Because of his physical condition, Roberts didn’t think Nate would ever find his forever home.

That was until she got a phone call from a woman who called herself “Angel,” saying “I’m calling for George Clooney from George’s house in England.”

As it turns out, Clooney and his wife, Amal, had been watching Nate’s video online from across the pond. They wanted to adopt Nate for Clooney’s parents, Nick and Nina, who live in Augusta.

It was a Hollywood ending for a little dog who Nick insists adopted them.

Watch in the video player above to hear from Nick Clooney, who spoke with WCPO's Scott Wegener by phone Monday, about what adopting Nate means to them.
