NEWPORT, Ky. — The Newport Aquarium is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a free child admission offer and a brand new exhibit.

From now until Feb. 28, children will be able to experience the aquarium for free, including the new exhibit, "Jim Henson's Splash and Bubbles Reeftown Adventure." One child will be admitted for free with each full-price adult ticket. General admission for kids is typically $17.99.

Based on the popular children's television show "Splash and Bubbles," the exhibit lets kids climb and slide their way through the fictional setting of Coral Cove in a three-level play structure. Children can also visit the Kelp Forest, explore and learn about the ocean and the animals living there, and become a Reeftown Ranger.

Children can even color their own aquatic characters and set them loose digitally into the "Splash and Bubbles" world.

"As we start our 20th anniversary year, it's inspiring to think about the millions of visitors who have built special connections at Newport Aquarium," said Eric Rose, executive director of the Newport Aquarium. "This new experience gives us even more opportunities to help parents teach their little ones that it's fun to learn about animals and important to protect our oceans."

This new exhibit is intended to provide an educational and exciting indoor experience for families just in time for chilly weather in the Tri-State.
