MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — Officials are investigating a homicide after a man was found slumped behind the wheel of a vehicle in Middletown on Friday night, according to the Journal-News.
Benny Alvin Barefield, 48, was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a press release from the Middletown Division of Police.
It appeared he had been shot while in his car on 9th Avenue, the report said.
Police received a call reporting that Barefield was in the vehicle on 9th Avenue and Yankee Road around 10:30 p.m.
It’s not known if investigators have a suspect.
