MASON, Ohio -- Mason sophomore guard Sammie Puisis has had quite a week along the college recruiting journey.
Puisis, who also plays the Cincy Heat Premier AAU team, picked up an offer from Purdue Wednesday. She also received offers from Florida State, Villanova and Loyola University Chicago this week.
CHP coach Xavier Sanders said Puisis is taking all the attention in stride.
“She is a good kid anyway, but I am trying to keep her humble about it by making sure she doesn’t become complacent or satisfied,” Sanders told WCPO.com.
Puisis also has offersfrom Xavier, Marquette, Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Arkansas.
Puisis averaged 9.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.3 assists as a freshman last season. She shot 49 percent from the field overall and 49 percent from beyond the 3-point arc (49 of 98). She had a season-high 21 points in the 48-31 win over Solon in the state semifinal.
Puisis, a 6-foot-1 wing/guard, has made a national impact on the AAU circuit this summer. She was one of six national recruits highlighted by ESPN.com as one of the rising standouts this month.
“The best part of her game is that she is so versatile,” Sanders said. “She can play a guard, wing or post position. She is a perfect swing player but can play positions 1-5 in certain situations. She is a great, deep 3-point shooter and grabs monstrous rebounds.”
