MIDDLETOWN - Fenwick senior linebacker Ben Hinton has committed to play football at Ball State as a preferred walk-on, according to Fenwick coach Joe Snively.
Hinton, the Associated Press Southwest District Division IV Defensive Player of the Year, was first-team all-state this past season for the Falcons (13-1), who were a state semifinalist.
Hinton, who is 6 feet 2 and 215 pounds, had 99 tackles (59 solo), 11 ½ sacks, five forced fumbles and two interceptions at Fenwick.
He was the Greater Catholic League North division defensive player of the year. He helped lead the Falcons to the state semifinals for the first time since 1987.
