CINCINNATI -- The Colerain football team is ranked No. 5 nationally by the MaxPreps National Top 150 computer rankings on Monday.
The Cardinals, ranked No. 1 in the Tristatefootball.com Division I area rankings, defeated Warren Central 31-28 Saturday at Nippert Stadium in the 19th annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown.
Colerain remained at No. 13 nationally by the MaxPreps Xcellent rankings(editorial rankings).
Huber Heights Wayne (0-0), the 2015 state runner-up, is No. 33 in the computer rankings. La Salle (1-0), the two-time defending Division II state champion, is No. 68. Moeller is No. 110 and St. Xavier is No. 127.
Colerain (1-0) plays at St. Xavier (0-1) at 7 p.m. Friday in the final game of a home-and-home agreement. Both schools are working on a possible game for 2017.
St. X leads the all-time series 20-12, but Colerain won both meetings in 2015 (regular season and playoffs).
