Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters will announce Wednesday whether or not he will pursue felony charges against Bengals cornerback Adam Jones.
Jones, 33, was arrested in January after an argument outside the Millennium Hotel Downtown turned into a physical confrontation with a security guard, according to police. He was recorded in the police vehicle that night berating the arresting officer and saying “I hope you die;” when he arrived at the Hamilton County Jail, court records said, he spat at a jail nurse and needed to be physically restrained.
Jones has already been charged with assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and harassment with a bodily substance, but Deters said he is still deciding whether to press more serious charges for his treatment of the nurse.
The decision hinges, according to Deters, on whether or not the victim had attempted to seek money from Jones after the incident.
If that is the case, Deters said, he will not seek charges against Jones.
Jones entered anger management and alcohol-related treatment after his arrest, according to Deters.
