WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Police have canceled an Amber Alert for four children who were missing from a city northwest of Indianapolis. They have been found safe.
West Lafayette, Indiana police said their mother, Victoria Dominique Whorton, took the children.
The missing children were:
- Azzura Ballard, 7;
- Akira Ballard, 3;
- Ahleiryah Ballard, 1; and
- Anthony Ballard ;Jr., 8.
Capt. David VanVactor, of the West Lafayette Police Department, said the children were to be removed from their home as part of a drug investigation. They were going to stay with a family friend, VanVactor said.
But by Friday, the children couldn't be found.
They were located Saturday in Chicago with Whorton, VanVactor said. They were healthy and unharmed.
VanVactor said the children would be taken back into the custody of the Indiana Department of Child Services once the proper paperwork was completed between Illinois and Indiana police.
No criminal charges are expected.
