CINCINNATI -- Abby Lane Black says she sings and writes from her heart.
Her heart was aching a couple years ago when a friend told her she'd been sexually abused. Now the local songwriter is trying to heal the pain of sexual abuse through song.
"It's just crazy that someone you know your whole life could be going through something and you never know," Black said.
A few days ago, Black released a song called "Strong." It's based on her friend's experience.
Black's been singing and playing since she was a little girl. But she said she only started writing about four years ago. She said now is the perfect time to release her first song.
Now it's on YouTube, iTunes and Spotify.
"Everything I've been hearing about the "me too" movement, and the producer was like, 'I have to release this now. It's the perfect time,'" she said. "People need to hear something hopeful."
