Officials quash planned riot at Warren County Jail

LEBANON, Ohio -- The Warren County Jail called at least five local law enforcement agencies Tuesday evening to help corrections officers quash a planned riot among its 280-inmate population, according to jail administrator Maj. Brett Richardson.

Jail officials learned of inmates' intention to riot around 6 p.m., Richardson said.

The Lebanon, Mason and Morrow police departments along with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the jail’s emergency response team all responded to the call.

With their help, the jail "brought the incident to conclusion before there was any act of violence," Richardson wrote.
