ELSMERE, Ky. -- Police are investigating a double homicide after a man and woman were found dead inside a home in Elsmere, Kentucky Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators said family members called police and said they discovered the bodies in the house on Merravay Drive at around 10 a.m.

Police identified the victims Thursday as Carolyn Ann Tomlinson, 28, and Charles Douglas Eapmon, 32. Investigators said the cause of death was not immediately determined.

Neighbors said the two were a couple with four children.

"She said he was not her type, but there was something about him," neighbor Christie Boleyn said. "She was really giddy when she told me that."

Tomlinson's coworkers at Villaspring of Erlanger released a statement saying she "had blessed our residents and team members for many years. Working in a nursing care center takes a level of compassion and caring that is difficult to find. Carolyn embodied those qualities."

Investigators were inside the house for hours Wednesday afternoon. Neighbors gave police copies of their home surveillance footage.

"It's terrible. I don't know if we can sleep at night. What are you supposed to do?" said neighbor Marrianne Huelsman. "It's usually pretty quiet as far as everybody else who lives here all the time."

Commonwealth attorney Rob Sanders said the last homicide in Elsmere happened almost one year ago.

"Anytime there is a homicide in anybody's neighborhood neighbors are going to be concerned, and rightfully so," Sanders said. "Right now, though, we can't tell them a lot more other than every precaution is being taken to handle the investigation with a careful approach."

Police asked anyone with information regarding the case to call them at 859-342-7344.
