COVINGTON, Ky. -- One person is dead after a high-rise fire in Covington overnight Friday.
The fire started on the seventh floor of the Panorama Apartments at about 1:15 a.m. The complex is a facility for seniors.
Police said 61-year-old Marie O'Brien was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital-Covington after being found unresponsive in a hallway. She was later pronounced dead by doctors.
Firefighters said the flames were contained to one unit in the complex.
However, people living on that floor weren’t allowed back in because of smoke damage. Investigators said the cause appears to be accidental.
A coroner is scheduled to conduct an autopsy to determine O'Brien's cause of death.
No other details have been released.
