HIGHLAND COUNTY, Ohio – A car crashed into a tree and immediately caught fire, killing the driver and critically injuring three passengers, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.
The single-car crash happened about 7:40 a.m. Saturday morning on eastbound U.S. 50 near milepost 18, according to a news release.
Debbie Damron, 55, of Hillsboro, Ohio, was driving a 2009 Pontiac Vibe when the car went off the left side of the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The three passengers were flown by Air Care to Miami Valley Hospital.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, the release said. The investigation is continuing.
