COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Indian Hill won its first state girls' soccer title Friday night.
Indian Hill defeated Mentor Lake Catholic 2-0 in the Division II state final played at MAPFRE Stadium. The Braves finished the season undefeated (22-0-1).
Morgan Jackson and Anna Podojil made the difference with two first-half goals for Indian Hill. Podojil, a junior forward, entered Friday with 37 goals and 17 assists this season. Jackson, a senior forward, entered Friday with 33 goals and 19 assists.
Indian Hill made its sixth state tournament appearance; the team was also the state runner-up in 2003 and 2004.
Its clinching of the state title Friday continued a dominant day for Cincinnati-area girls’ soccer teams. Summit County Day defeated Kirtland 4-0 Friday afternoon at MAPFRE Stadium to win the Division III state title.
