CINCINNATI -- A teenage boy was shot Sunday on the riverfront after the Western & Southern/WEBN firework display, according to the Cincinnati Fire Department.

The shooting occurred around 9:40 p.m. near Broadway and Mehring Way downtown near US Bank Arena. Police say the victim and the shooter got into an altercation prior to the shooting.

Hundreds witnessed this frightening moment. Emily Morton saw the shooting unfold.

"I was terrified, I was really scared,” Morton said. “I had no idea what was going to happen or if they were going to keep shooting, and the whole time I was thinking how is this even safe."

Brandy Bundy, of Hamilton, heard the gunshots and saw people scatter from the scene.

“It definitely was dangerous,” Bundy said. “There are so many families and it's a family-friendly event, and for someone to do that in such close quarters with half a million people, it's pretty scary.”

The victim was shot in the shoulder and transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

There is no information on the suspect at this time.
