CINCINNATI -- Police are looking for the driver involved in a Saturday evening hit and run that left a mother and her young daughter in the hospital.
Three-year-old Khloe Pitts is fighting for her life after a driver hit her and her mother, Joy White, 27, Saturday evening as they were crossing Vine Street to go to the zoo’s PNC Festival of Lights.
Police said the driver fled the scene and abandoned a 2012 Chevy Traverse on Shields Street a short distance away.
White told WCPO- 9 On Your Side that she doesn't have any broken bones, but her legs and hips are swollen and she is unable to walk. She said her daughter is in critical but stable condition in the ICU at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Donte Reese, one of White’s neighbors, said he wants justice for little Khloe.
"It's a shame man… for a three year old to get hit by someone that's driving wreckless,” Reese said.
Reese and his girlfriend, Sarah Marino, live near White and her daughter.
"She's a sweet little girl, so please send prayers to this family,” Reese said.
Marino said White called her the Sunday morning after the incident.
"She told me they were in a really bad accident, and I'm thinking car accident… fender bender, but they were literally ran over,” Marino said. “She said that Khloe was about to undergo a procedure to see if it would help stabilize her any, and that's the last that I know."
Reese wants the driver to come forward, and he is confident White will pull through.
"She's a mother, so you know her will power is going to help her overcome her pain,” he said.
Any witnesses are asked to call the Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
