HAMILTON, Ohio – A mother and her boyfriend charged in the death of the woman’s 2-year-old daughter Kinsley Kinner will have separate trials, a Butler County judge ruled Thursday.

Rebekah Kinner, 23, was indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter, endangering children and permitting child abuse. He final motion hearing is scheduled for March 17, with a trial planned to start April 4.

Kinner’s boyfriend, 26-year-old Bradley Young, was indicted on charges of murder, two counts of endangering children and involuntary manslaughter. His final motion hearting is set for March 24 and a trial is set to start April 25.

Both pleaded not guilty to their respective charges.

Earlier, Kinner testified that she wants justice to be served, even if it hurts her own case, her attorney said. She told investigators that Young shook and punched Kinsley in the head multiple times. The child went in and out of consciousness, and stopped breathing before dying at the hospital.

Kinner is pregnant with another child, due in February. Kinsley’s dad, Scott Senft, said he’s the father of that child, too. He said he’s planning to petition for custody of the boy, who he hopes to name Kingsley after his sister.

Through the court proceedings, Senft said the community has offered him support.

“Anywhere I go, people are always asking me, anything I need ‘you can have,’ and I’m like, ‘I don’t need anything.’ I work day-to-day just like everybody else,” Senft said.
