CINCINNATI -- Thanks to Tri-State residents, WCPO's annual Toy Team 9 toy drive collected more than 6,700 toys, plus an additional $1,703.93 in cash donations between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Since 2011, WCPO - 9 On Your Side has been partnering with Kroger, Cumulus Radio, and nine local nonprofits to collect toys.
WCPO's on-air and online talent went to nine local Kroger locations -- Newport, Hyde Park, Liberty Township, Harrison, Eastgate, Western Hills, Florence, Mason and Queen City -- to collect toy donations.
Thanks to your generous help, needy children in the Tri-State will have an extra special Christmas this year.
This year’s toy drive benefits:
- The Salvation Army
- Butler County USMC Toys for Tots
- Greater Cincinnati USMC Toys for Tots
- Child Focus
- The Brighton Center
- The Children’s Home of Cincinnati
- Warren County Community Services
- Be Concerned
- Santa Maria Community Services
We still have some last-minute donations left to count, but here are our totals for Toy Team 9's participating Kroger locations.
- Newport: 518 toys
- Hyde Park: 1,012 toys
- Liberty Township: 1,251 toys
- Harrison: 850 toys (plus $1,003.93 in cash donations!)
- Eastgate: 1,174 toys
- Western Hills: 787 toys (plus $700 in cash donations!)
- Florence: 816 toys
- Mason: 705 toys
- Queen City: 384 toys
That's a total of 6,797 toys! We have some donations left to count at the station and we will still accept late submissions, so that number is bound to increase.
Liberty Township Kroger is the leader in our most recent toy count.
