MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Middletown firefighters found one person dead early Saturday morning after they were called to a fire on Jacoby Avenue.
They found the person on the floor while searching the house after they put out the fire, WCPO media partner the Journal-News reports.
The homeowner died about a month ago. Lolli told the Journal-News it's not clear if the person found Saturday morning was a man or woman.
"They were getting information that is was a vacant house," Fire Chief Paul Lolli said.
It took firefighters about 10 minutes to knock the fire down after they arrived around 4:20 a.m.
Firefighters, police detectives and the coroner's office are working to figure out what caused the fire and how the person died.
