HAMILTON, Ohio -- One large vacant warehouse has burned to the ground and another has sustained damage on Joe Nuxhall Boulevard, said Hamilton Fire Chief Mark Mercer.

The fire was fully involved when firefighters arrived shortly before 8 a.m., Mercer told WCPO media partner the Journal-News.

The building between Fifth and Sixth streets is destroyed. A second building, a former dairy, was damaged by fire that got through the windows.

The tall smoke stack in the area, which has been under scrutiny for about a year for structural integrity, was not damaged by the fire, according to Mercer. Fire investigators are on the scene.

No one was injured, according to the Hamilton Fire Department's Facebook page.

Mercer said there was no electrical service to the building.

He said the cause of the fire is undetermined and might be difficult to pinpoint because of the amount of damage.

A house across from the scene on Sixth Street sustained damage to its siding from the heat, according to witnesses.
