HAMILTON, Ohio -- A man is dead after an overnight fire at an apartment complex, according to the Hamilton Fire Department.
Crews were called to Hampshire Court just before 2 a.m. for reports of heavy smoke. Fire engines from Fairfield Township and Liberty Township also responded to help.
Firefighters saw flames coming from a third-floor window, and they found 62-year-old Thomas Charles Jones dead in the living room of the apartment.
Jones died at about 3:18 a.m. from smoke inhalation, the Butler County Coroner said.
Laurie Garrett lives in the building that caught fire. She said Jones “would do anything in the world for people.”
“He’s going to be really missed,” Garrett said.
