UC doctor: Data on whole-food diet is eye-opener

Posted

CINCINNATI -- What's on your dinner plate? It's no surprise it could have a big effect on your health.

A new documentary, featuring an oncologist from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, wants you to make sure your diet is filled with plants and other whole foods.

"I used to be one of those physicians who would say, 'Just eat the sugar, don't worry about it,' you know?" UC Dr. Rekha Chaudhary said. "And after seeing this data, Dr. Campbell's data, and reading all the literature and all the studies on it, I thought, 'Where have I been? Why haven't I been told this before?'"

Though Chaudhary is featured in "Pure Plant Nation," Dr. Colin Campbell is the documentary's backbone.

"Pure Plant Nation" shows Campbell's fight for a study in Kentucky to look at the health benefits of a plant-based diet to, in part, curb childhood obesity.
