ELMWOOD PLACE, Ohio -- Eddie Butts and Liasha Williams, the owners of a dog that attacked and severely wounded a 3-year-old girl Wednesday night, surrendered themselves to police Thursday evening.
According to Col. Eric Bartlett of the Elmwood Place Police Department, Butts and Williams fled Poplar Street after their dog attacked the girl. When police contacted them, they said they would bring the dog in to the police department, but that promise wasn't fulfilled until Thursday.
Butts and Williams now face criminal charges of obstructing official business and tampering with evidence for abandoning the scene of the attack. Butts was given a $45,000 bond in court Friday; Williams was given a $22,500 bond.
The SPCA took the dog into custody.
The 3-year-old victim was taken to Children’s Hospital and spent three hours in surgery for injuries to her legs and groin, police said. She was in stable condition Thursday.
