34-year-old Jamar Hayes killed in West End shooting, police say

Hayes is 19th homicide victim of 2017, CPD says

CINCINNATI -- Police have identified the man killed in a shooting in the West End Monday night.

Jamar Hayes, 34, was found next to a car on Wade Street near Linn at about 10:45 p.m., police said in a homicide unit news release. Hayes was shot once in the head and was dead when police arrived at the scene.

Police said there is no suspect information to release at this time.

According to Cincinnati Police Department crime stats, violent crime in the city is up seven percent compared to this time last year. Hayes is Cincinnati's 19th homicide victim of 2017, according to Mike Miller with the CPD homicide unit.
