CINCINNATI -- Police found a man dead of a gunshot wound Thursday afternoon.
Someone flagged down an officer to report a shooting in shortly after 12:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of Vine Street in Mount Auburn, police said. The officer found the victim, 24-year-old Casey Roby, dead inside a vehicle.
Vine Street was closed in both directions in the area as police investigated.
Later Thursday, another fatal shooting was reported in the 3900 block of Vine in North Avondale, about two miles away. Police said 47-year-old Pamela Hacker was shot once in the chest inside an apartment. She was driven to University of Cincinnati Medical Center in critical condition and died on the way there.
Police said they believed the two shootings were unrelated.
"The (suspect) description's not even close to the other shooting," Sgt. Eric Franz said. "At this point, I'd say there's very little chance, if any, that they're ... connected in any way, shape or form that we know of at this point."
