HAMILTON, Ohio -- Police officers investigating a report of gunfire early Tuesday morning found a person dead.

Hamilton police were called to the apartment at Maple Avenue and South Ninth Street at about 4:45 a.m. They found the victim inside an apartment, according to Sgt. Brian Robinson.

Police identified the victim as 36-year-old Timothy James Dugan of Hamilton.

Dugan died from a gunshot wound, police said. The Butler County Coroner's Office identified the death as a homicide.

No one has been charged, but detectives are still investigating and will be conferring with the prosecutor.
