Kroger insurance to cover transgender employees

CINCINNATI — Kroger will begin offering transgender employees full health insurance coverage for services related to gender transition starting next year, the Journal-News reported Wednesday.

Benefits will include surgery and drug therapy for gender reassignment as part of its employee health plan, according to Forbes.com.

Kroger employs about 400,000 workers across 2,500 stores. It’s the fifth-largest private employer in the U.S.
