Try Tanya O'Rourke's go-to breakfast for the kids before school: Baked oatmeal

With the kids back in school, 9 On Your Side Anchor Tanya O'Rourke shared one of her kids' favorite breakfasts: baked oatmeal. She says, "before you diss it, give it a try."

O'Rourke's kids love it hot served with berries and cold milk poured over or cold as an oatmeal bar snack.

3 cups uncooked oats (instant is fine)
1 1/2 cups milk
1 stick unsalted butter
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla extract (truth be told, I was out when we shot this. I used maple extract and it was Soooooooo good!)

Pour into a prepared 13-by-9-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until center is set.
