CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Rollergirls' months-long search for a new home is over.
On Friday, the Rollergirls announced on Facebook that Schmidt Memorial Field House at Xavier University will be the team's new home for the 2017 season. The team will play its first home game at the field house on March 18.
The 3,000-seat field house is located at 3800 Victory Parkway.
"It’s the perfect size for us," said team owner Lauren Bishop during the announcement. "It will feel really full and exciting."
The Rollergirls' search for a new home began last June after the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority bought, and announced plans to demolish, the Cincinnati Gardens. The Rollergirls had practiced and played home games in the 14,000-capacity building in Bond Hill since 2006.

The Cincinnati Junior Rollergirls and Cincinnati Battering Rams teams will play their four regular season home games at the field house as well.
Bishop said fans will still be able to sit on the floor to watch games at the new venue like they did at the Gardens. The field house will also sell beer and other concessions.
The Rollergirls introduced one new feature because of the team's move to a college campus. Students and staff with valid ID from any university will get a $7 discounted admission price to any game.
The Schmidt Memorial Field House has a hardwood college basketball floor and two volleyball courts. The location also has hosted a variety of other sporting events, such as WWE matches, high school and college basketball games, volleyball games and gymnastic tournaments.
President Bill Clinton delivered an address in the field house in 1996, according to Xavier University’s website.
The Rollergirls offered hints leading to the team’s announcement Friday. People who correctly guessed the team's new home were entered in a contest to win a pair of season tickets.
