CINCINNATI -- Gabrielle Union has joined the cast of the cast of the Emilio Estevez movie that will be filmed in Cincinnati.
Union has joined the Estevez-written and -directed film "The Public" as "an ambitious television news reporter," Variety reported. She's known for her roles in movies like "Top Five," "Almost Christmas" and "Birth of a Nation."
"The Public" will also star Alec Baldwin, Taylor Schilling, Jena Malone and Che "Rhymefest" Smith, Film Cincinnati Executive Director Kristen Schlotman previously told WCPO.
The socially conscious ensemble dramedy centers around a standoff with police and library officials when library patrons, many of whom are homeless and mentally ill, stage an Occupy sit-in, turning the Cincinnati Public Library into an impromptu homeless shelter for one night during a brutal, life-threatening cold snap.
Filming is scheduled to begin in Cincinnati next month.
