No long food reviews here. Just the essentials on where to find best local eats to blow your mind, but not your budget. Twice a month, we challenge our team of foodies to scour the town for the best bites for two under $30. This is their latest discovery.
This Week's Find: Mazunte Taqueria's memelitas and enchiladas
Why We Love It: This Madisonville taqueria serves up way more than your typical taco shop. The menu is packed with authentic home-style Mexican cuisine, and nothing is priced more than $9.75. This time we devoured an incredible plate of of enchiladas ($9.75) topped with fresh spinach, pickled red onion and yummy queso. And we discovered this delicious delight: Memelitas ($8.50), which are basically a street taco's well-traveled cousin. It's your pick of chicken, chorizo (our pick!), pork or veggies -- served atop a black bean puree and stuffed into two corn masa tortillas that look like mini pie crusts. Topped off with delicious queso and avocado salsa, it's served with a tasty side of rice. We can't stop dreaming about this food. We wet our palate with a stellar margarita on the rocks ($6.50) and an agua. Two happy, full bellies for just $24.75.
