Welcome to $30 & Under!

No long food reviews here. Just the essentials on where to find best local eats to blow your mind, but not your budget. Twice a month, we challenge our team of foodies to scour the town for the best bites for two under $30. This is their latest discovery.

This Week's Find: The Green Dog Cafe

Why We Love It: This environmentally-conscious cafe is the perfect balance of healthy and delicious eats. Each brunch, lunch and dinner item on the menu is made from locally-sourced ingredients. The place is also vegan and gluten-free friendly, with most dishes $9 to $14 per entree. Those meals include huevo rancheros ($11) for brunch and the Caribbean turkey sandwich ($13.50) for lunch. Kevin and I decided to try the Green Dog BLT wrap ($13), made with roasted turkey, Busch’s hand cut smoked bacon, baby arugula, ripe tomato and basil mayonnaise. The wrap also included the choice of either a green salad, pineapple slaw, brown rice or corn chips. I went with the salad and Kevin ate the brown rice.  Ultimately, we paid $27.82 for two guilt free and delicious lunches. I can also vouch for the huevo rancheros (two eggs served sunnyside up on a grilled tortillas with ranchero sauce, black beans, cheddar and salsa Verde) as a great Sunday brunch option.

@Brian_in_Cincinnati and @kevinnecessary put @greendogcafe to WCPO's $30 and Under test for lunch and it passed. The popular Columbia Tusculum brunch and lunch spot is a vegan and gluten-free friendly cafe that uses locally-sourced ingredients. Pictures here is the Green Dog BLT ($13), which can be ordered as either a wrap or sandwich. The BLT includes roasted turkey, Busch’s hand cut smoked bacon, baby arugula, ripe tomato and basil mayonnaise. The wrap also comes with a side. In this case, Brian chose the greens while Kevin went with the brown rice. A very healthy and satisfying lunch for 2 for just $27.82. (Brian said the huevos rancheros ($11) on the brunch menu is a pretty solid choice too.) #Cincybuzz #cincyeatsndrinks #cincyeats #urbanfoodreview #local #cincylove
